sustainable use of forest resources through
identification,
planning and implementation of projects aimed at
forest conservation and development and integrated
watershed management in both the
private and public sectors.”
Objectives and Action Plan
In pursuing its stated goal, TFC will
-
Work towards conservation of
forest ecosystems, bio-diversity, protected
areas and watersheds
-
Assist individuals and groups
with planning, implementation, monitoring and
evaluation of projects and activities, including
afforestation, reforestation, agro-forestry,
wood energy, forest recreation, urban forestry
and related subjects.
-
Provide training and technical
support for agencies involved in forest
conservation and management
-
Partner with the Forestry
Department in strengthening stakeholder
participation in forestry programmes
In the years ahead, TFC will
encourage studies to determine the growth
characteristics and uses of native tree species,
facilitate improved forest management practices, and
will support the sharing of knowledge, experience
and information on forestry, biodiversity and other
environmental matters with individuals, groups and
the general public. While undertaking these
activities, every effort will be made to promote
public awareness, increase dialogue and build
diverse coalitions aimed at enhancement of the role
and socio-economic benefits of forests to society.
